Caleb Carpenter embodies a passion for the skilled trades industry that has been ingrained in him from a young age. Growing up as a 4th generation carpenter on his dad's side and 3rd generation on his mom's side, Caleb was surrounded by the world of trades. His childhood was marked by hands-on experiences, from sharing the work van with his brother to constructing ramps with power tools at the age of 8.

Although carpentry was a natural part of his life due to his last name, Caleb took his time considering it as a career. Inspired by his father's fulfilling lifestyle in the trades—marked by flexibility, autonomy, and a love for tools—Caleb decided to pursue carpentry. His grandfather, a skilled craftsman, and mentors from his dad's team further shaped his passion and expertise. He began his formal apprenticeship at 15, learning the intricacies of the trade. His journey took him through various roles, including working for a brick mason, a restoration carpenter, and high-end millwork companies. Eventually, he ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own carpentry business three years ago.

Beyond his professional life, Caleb's love for carpentry extends to his hobby of building furniture. He finds solace and fulfillment in his woodshop, often listening to podcasts while crafting. Brian Pynn, a Project Manager at Hudson Valley Preservation, discovered his passion for trades at a very young age, thanks to his family. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, he was introduced to the world of craftsmanship and construction, influenced greatly by his Grandfather, Father, and Uncle. It was during his high school years that Brian had his "Ah Ha" moment, realizing that his love for working with his hands could be transformed into a fulfilling career in the trades.

With over 8 years of experience in the field, Brian has honed his skills and expertise, particularly in the realm of woodwork and mechanics. His journey began in the bustling environment of New York City's commercial construction sector, where he managed day-to-day operations on large-scale projects. Audettte Electric Service

Marc Audette is a Connecticut licensed Electrical Contractor who has been in the electrical profession for over 35 years. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Haven. He began his career working in Groton, CT performing commercial, industrial, marine and residential work. Marc has worked both as Project Manager and Construction Manager, gaining experience in all phases of his profession. Through his work in the field, he saw areas of the trade that could be improved upon and designed a practice of operating as a partnership. His approach is about collaboration - with lighting suppliers, manufacturers, tradespeople, architects, designers and most importantly, the homeowners. This idea sparked the desire to venture out on his own. He attained his Masters Electrical license and founded Audette Electrical Services in 1999. He has owned and operated AES for over 20 years, consistently researching, training and specializing in premier brands such as Lutron Electronics and Kohler Standby Generator System. AES services include home renovation, new construction, lighting control and integration, generator installation to name a few.

Nevan Carling is a preservation timber and buildings archaeologist from Hartford, CT. He completed his undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Heritage Management at the University of York in the United Kingdom and is currently completing his MSc in Timber Building Conservation at the Weald and Downland Museum in Chichester, England. Nevan specializes in historic timber framing techniques and the repair of historic buildings, with a special interest in 17th and 18th century structures.

Meet Eric Clinger, a returning presenter for 2023 Touch A Trade. Eric's journey through the world of craftsmanship and preservation began with a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. He first delved into furniture building and restoration in Philadelphia, setting the stage for a remarkable career in preserving history.

Eric's academic pursuits led him to the U.S. Forest Service in California and subsequent roles in archaeology with the University of California at Santa Barbara and the National Park Service in Boston and Cape Cod. His archaeological adventures even took him underground in New York City, where he uncovered a buried 200-foot ship from 1730 and found not only history but love, meeting his future wife, Kerry.

In 1984, Eric joined the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the Lyndhurst Estate, where he restored significant historic buildings, including Gracie Mansion and Frederic Law Olmsted's iconic gazebos in Central Park. Establishing his restoration studio in 1985, Eric has since breathed new life into thousands of antique and vintage pieces. Kent Quilters is a community quilt group which formed in the fall of 2014 at the Kent Memorial Library. Local women came together and created a log-cabin quilt to raise money for the library. We had so much fun with that project that we have continued, working with a different local nonprofit organization every year.

David Peckard is a highly skilled architect and woodworking expert, known for his exceptional restoration work on historical structures. With a professional degree in architecture from Cornell University and architectural licenses in Connecticut and Massachusetts, he has over three decades of experience in technical aspects, building systems, and historic preservation.
